Extremely rare

In ‘Croissants & Architecture’, the rough, working class texture of sandpaper scrapes against the flakey affluence of croissants. Composed of actual sheet of industrially manufactured sandpaper paired with photographs of croissants in public spaces this publication allows the sandpaper to slowly flake away the croissants.

The unexpected encounter between an early signifier of gentrification and an unchanged tool of manual labour addresses two of Nicole Wermers’ longstanding interests: the progression of Neoliberalism and the sculptural qualities of negative space.

Part of an intended edition of 250 of which only about 120 were produced. After the sandpaper destroyed a second set of printer’s blades, printing was suspended.
